I've enjoyed watching trains, or "railfanning" for as long as I can remember.

Following in the footsteps of other like-minded geeks (Twin Cities Railfan, Twin Cities Railfan Guide), I'm contributing to the fray with a few pet projects of my own.

Last of the Griswolds

Once a common sight across the Upper Midwest, these iconic railroad crossing devices, manufactured in Minneapolis, are now few and far between.

Train Beds

Both of my sons sleep atop beds modeled after modern diesel locomotives.

Foamer Jib

Hacked together with components from the garden department of hardware store, the Foamer Jib is a homemade 15' camera jib with a pan/tilt head. Amusing to watch in action, it takes two people and too much time to deploy to get much use - it was fun to build though!
